Click on the before photo to see the completed project! This is an Ipe and Pressure Treated project. The Ipe was previously stained, the pressure treated wood had never been sealed at all. This Ipe deck had to be completely stripped of an overapplication of stain.
Ipe, a high quality South American hardwood, is one of the densest and more durable woods in the hardwood class. Hardwoods typically require annual maintenance due to their lack of porosity. Sealers do not penetrate as well on hardwoods as they do softwoods. The wood itself is more durable, but more frequent maintenance is required. When maintained properly, Ipe will produce stunning results!
This finished view of Ipe floor and handrails just needs to be seen bigger!

A completely failed stain caused this beautifully constructed deck to look old and dull.
